Yana Calou is a genderqueer Brazilian-American activist and writer living in Brooklyn, NY (they/them). As Coworker.org’s Engagement & Training Manager, Yana provides employees in the tech industry with support, skills, and infrastructure to build employee voices in their workplaces, and improve their jobs. Prior to joining Coworker.org they directed programming for CLAGS Center for LGBTQ Studies at the City University of New York, served as advisor for the Queer Survival Economies Initiative at the Barnard Center for Research on Women, and directed communications for the Retail Action Project, GLAAD, and the Women’s Media Center. In their spare time, they write poems and serve on the board of the MIX Queer Experimental Film Festival.
