Her work also involves driving systemic change and enabling an environment where people from all backgrounds can fulfill their potential. Sunny has an intercultural mindset and a gift for influencing people to get out of their comfort zone in order to build a more equitable community.

Before joining Palo Alto Networks, she was with Amazon in a similar role where she supported five vice presidents and had direct input into business decisions and employee processes with a DEI lens. In addition, Sunny is a board member and action team leader for Triangle Women in STEM and a DEI council member for USA Youth and High School Rugby. She previously served on the boards for Triangle Math and Science Academy, USA Rugby DEI Council, and Illuminating Engineering Society.

With an Electrical Engineering background and over 15 years in technical roles, Sunny has a unique skill set that encompasses her technical expertise and DEI practitioner experience. Sunny has successfully designed and initiated results-oriented DEI-focused processes, plans, programs, workshops, trainings, dialogues, and discussions for senior leaders, people managers, and staff. These initiatives encourage learning, reflection, awareness, and understanding as well as community-building across differences, ultimately inspiring organizational growth and progress with equitable and just outcomes for diverse staff and communities.

In her free time, Sunny enjoys spending time with her four kiddos and husband. She is also a rugby coach and runs a large youth program that makes rugby equitable and accessible for all. Being a foodie, she loves tacos and is on a mission to find the world’s best. Sunny is also active in her Native American tribal communities, Sappony and Lumbee, and is passionate about connecting Indigenous students to STEM opportunities.
