Summer Esquerre as Senior Manager for NextEra Energy, Inc. (NextEra) leads a team that oversees, advises and guides the company’s Business Units to comply with Cyber Security and Operational regulations covering 100 standards and associated requirements. NextEra Energy, Inc. is a leading clean energy company and is the largest generator in the world of renewable energy from the wind and sun. Summer is a Business Unit senior leader charged with growing, developing and engaging staff serving as a mentor and role model for personnel responsible with regulatory compliance.

In addition to her primary responsibilities, Summer is a member, change agent and adviser on NextEra’s Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Council and Co-Chairs NextEra’s LGBTQ+ and Allies employee resource group.

Prior to this role, Summer was a Senior Information Security Analyst within IT Business Unit. She was responsible for the identification of information technology risks and mitigation by implementation of security controls. Managed and updated security policies and technical standards ensuring that policies and standards adequately protected emerging technologies and address new security threats.

Prior to joining NextEra, Summer was an IT Manager for a boutique software company in Atlanta, Georgia.

She holds a master’s degree in information assurance, is a certified Information Systems Security Professional, and holds a Risk and Information Systems Control certification.

Summer is an active volunteer in her community. She currently serves on Family Equality Council’s Southern Advisory Council and is and admin for Queer Mamas* which is an online community space for queer parents to connect, share and find community.

Summer is a workout enthusiast and YouTube Vlogger. She adores her wife (Kendal) and two daughters (Emmy and Storm). Summer and her family live in South Florida.
