Silvia Vasquez-Lavado is a humanitarian, adventurer, passionate social entrepreneur and technologist, who has been enthusiastically working to provide the advancement of vulnerable populations. In 2009 she co-founded and launched the Gracias Foundation (now renamed to Gratitude Alliance), leading local grassroots social entrepreneurs in marginalized areas in Africa, Asia and Nepal.
Since 2014, she has launched Courageous Girls, her most personal initiative aimed to provide the healing and empowerment of sexually abused girls through physical endurance, creative and mindfulness techniques. She has successfully led young women from Nepal and the US into life-transforming journeys and currently has projects in Nepal, Peru and San Francisco (US)
In addition to serving as PayPal’s Principal of Enterprise Technology, Silvia is immensely committed about mentoring the next generation of young women to embrace technology in all its various possibilities.
Silvia’s work has been globally recognized, Fortune Magazine named her as one of the Fortune 500 Heroe’s; CNET has named her as one of the 20 most influential Latinos, and the Peruvian Ministry of Commerce and Tourism has recently recognized her as one of the Global Peruvian Ambassadors.
As an avid adventurer she is currently pursuing the Explorers Grand Slam, climbing the tallest summit on each of the seven continents and skiing the North and South Poles.
