Marnie, who identifies as non-binary and uses gender neutral pronouns, created their first LGBTQ+ training as a Peace Corps Volunteer in West Africa in 2010. After coming out as non-binary at Columbia Business School, Marnie developed a Transgender 101 training for their peers and worked with the school to get a gender neutral bathroom created. After graduating with an MBA, Marnie began work in Finance at Google as a Global Process Manager. While at Google, Marnie mentioned the need for trans education to their colleague, Kevin Perry, who had launched an LGBTQ Ally Program while at Bank of America. Drawing on their previous training experience, Kevin and Marnie created Transgender @ Google, a training that has now been given to over 7,000 Google employees at offices around the world. Marnie has also presented this workshop externally to several companies, such as Twitter, KPMG, VMware and Vimeo. Marnie is now in their fourth role at Google, working as a Diversity Manager on the Employee Engagement team, where they focus on retention and progression for Googlers from underrepresented communities.
