Katie Sgarro is a writer and social entrepreneur. She is Co-Founder & President of AsylumConnect, a nonprofit startup creating the first online resource database for LGBTQ asylum seekers in the U.S. She leads organizational development and works to ensure the AsylumConnect resource catalog reaches its full potential. She also strives to increase awareness and support for LGBTQ rights and LGBTQ asylum seekers in the U.S. Her work has been published and featured in The HuffPost, The Advocate, Out Magazine, Philadelphia Magazine, Forbes.com, HealthCare.com, and other outlets.
Outside of AsylumConnect, Katie works as a PR and digital communications professional in NYC. She received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and her M.S. in Management Studies from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
