Kat Skiles is NGP VAN’s Vice President of Communications and Marketing. Kat began her career on Capitol Hill in 2006, where she most recently served as Press Secretary & Director of Online Strategy for the Democratic Caucus of the U.S. House of Representatives. At each point in her career, Kat has utilized her creativity and expertise to strengthen the brand and message of the elected officials and Democratic organizations for whom she was employed. Her work for the House Democratic Caucus includes the development of both online and offline strategy guidance for Members of Congress and their staffs. Though her career on Capitol Hill is extensive, she is no stranger to progressive politics, having served the campaigns of Congressman Henry Waxman and Congresswoman Jackie Speier, as well as the podium script staff at the Democratic National Convention. Kat has also been recognized as Washington City Paper’s Best Gay Activist and the Washington Blade’s Best LGBT Hill Staffer. A fifth-generation Utahn, Kat’s heart remains Salt Lake City which she still calls home. Her self-described strengths include relocating lost bugs, taking it to the hoop and triple letter word scores.
