Hi, I’m Izzy, a twenty-year-old non-binary lesbian and a proud IBMer!

After spending a long while trying to find my place in life, I discovered Computer Science and instantly fell in love with coding anything and everything I could. I continued to pursue the subject throughout school and the sense of belonging I discovered gave me the confidence to embrace my own sexuality and identity. When it came to pursuing a career, I knew I wanted to work in an environment where I would be celebrated for being me – and I found IBM. Currently, I work as a Software Engineer on a SaaS API testing product (API Connect Test and Monitor) and am working towards a Digital and Technology Solutions BSc from the University of Exeter as part of my degree apprenticeship.

Aside from technology, my main passions focus around promoting LGBT+ equality, especially in the workplace – looking at how people can be more inclusive, with particular emphasis on education and creating community, and what unique qualities queer people possess that benefit business. My favourite achievement so far has been working to co-found an Employee Resource Group specifically catered towards LGBT+ Early Professionals and allies to help fully support these members of the community and further build upon IBM’s diverse and inclusive culture.

When not in front of my computer screen, I can be found chasing my cat and nurturing my plants!
