Heather Hiles is the founder and CEO of Pathbrite, the world’s leading Portfolio Platform. Pathbrite applies an ePortfolio approach to learning, teaching and assessment. This platform has been proven to optimize learning outcomes like critical thinking and metacognition to increase student graduation and job placement rates. Launched in 2012, the company currently services non-profit, private and for-profit schools, colleges, universities, and organizations around the world.
Before founding Pathbrite, Heather built a career in education, workforce development, and finance spanning more than 20 years. A successful serial entrepreneur, her leadership experience includes positions as founder or leader of several private and public sector organizations, including: Commissioner for the San Francisco Unified School District; Executive Director of Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund (SV2); co-founder of EARN; and CEO of SFWorks, COO of Break The Cycle.
Heather has been named among the Top 100 coolest people in Silicon Valley by Business Insider. She has been featured in CIO Review, FastCompany Magazine, Wall Street Journal, EdWeek, Black Enterprise and more. She was also recently inducted into The Credit Suisse Entrepreneurs Circle of high potential entrepreneurs.
Heather received her BA from UC Berkeley in Economic Development and holds an MBA from Yale University, with a concentration in Finance and Strategic Planning. She has served on the boards of Leadership Public Schools, Alonzo King Lines Ballet, AIDS Legal Referral Panel, and Communities United Against Violence (CUAV). She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and resides in Oakland, CA.
