DeVan Hankerson is a technology and telecom policy professional with a background in domestic and international cross-border trade issues. As a serious data nerd, she’s a strong champion of data-driven decision making in public policy. She has spent her career working on technology access issues, with a specific focus on disruptive technologies and dismantling barriers to Internet dependent industries which includes advancing the deployment of critical communications infrastructure.
Currently, she is the Senior Director of Public Policy and Government Relations with Goodfriend Government Affairs, a progressive Public Policy Advocacy firm in Washington, DC, with clients including PayPal and DISH Network/Sling among others. Prior to joining Goodfriend, DeVan worked in the public interest sector as well as on global trade issues at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce. While living in the Middle East she also worked with a Jordanian NGO on economic inclusion and gender equality issues . Originally from Brooklyn, NY DeVan obtained a graduate degree from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies and her BA in Psychology and Linguistics from Vassar College. In her spare time, she volunteers with the Federal Communications Bar association and trolls for Kaggle competitions.
