Debra Cleaver is the CEO & Founder of VoteAmerica, a national nonpartisan nonprofit organization which builds technology to simplify political engagement, increase voter turnout, and strengthen American democracy for all eligible voters. A serial founder working at the intersection of technology and democracy since 2004, previous organizations she’s built have included ElectionDay.org (2018), Vote.org (2016), Long Distance Voter (2008), and Swing the State (2004).

Debra has become a nationally-recognized pioneer in voter turnout strategies, having championed numerous civic engagement tactics now considered industry standards, such as peer-to-peer SMS messaging, OOH billboard advertising in minority communities, and large-scale campus engagement campaigns. An alumna of Pomona College and Y Combinator, she frequently speaks about election policy and issues impacting voter turnout.
