Chintan Mehta is the Chief Information Officer and head of Digital Technology and Innovation for Wells Fargo. He is also a member of the Wells Fargo Technology executive leadership team. Chintan has joint reporting relationships to the Head of Wells Fargo Technology as well as the CEO for Corporate Strategy, Digital Platform & Innovation business. By pairing the Digital and Innovation teams together, Wells Fargo can accelerate new business models, products, and services.

Chintan is responsible for building an effective and efficient customer feedback led digital ecosystem of experiences and capabilities, which are safe, secure, resilient, and highly responsive. He and his team continue to evolve Wells Fargo’s digital platforms and enhance integration of the innovation pipeline into our customer-facing capabilities. As a visionary leader, Chintan looks at things from the customer’s perspective and develops creative long-term strategies to reinvent what their banking looks like and how they will bank into the future – focusing on Smart Content Management, Robotics & Intelligent Automation, Distributed Ledger Technology, Advanced Artificial Intelligence, and Quantum Computing.

He also leads Wells Fargo’s Academia and Industry Research partnerships including Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI), Stanford Platform Lab, and MIT-IBM Watson Artificial Intelligence Lab.

In driving creative digital development using emerging technology, Chintan leverages the collective knowledge and innovative thinking of his team. By empowering individuals and teams, the Digital Technology & Innovation team is the first Wells Fargo Technology group to adopt a 100% Agile environment, representing a quantum shift from the traditional paradigms.

Chintan joined Wells Fargo in 2017 as the head of Digital Technology where he was responsible for strategy, development, and support of digital technology solutions
across all Wells Fargo businesses. He and his team played a critical role in accelerating the transformation and evolution of the digital experience for more than 70 million customers. Chintan joined us from Walgreens where he was the Group Vice President and Chief Technology Officer responsible for product management, design, engineering, and operations across retail, pharmacy, and healthcare business. He also held technology leadership positions with increasing levels of responsibility at American Express and Barclays Bank PLC in London, UK.

Chintan has a master’s degree in computer science from University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom. He is based in San Francisco, California with his wife and two children.
