Dr. Cooper holds a doctorate in Computer Science. She is a Senior Cybersecurity Design Engineer and Risk Manager with T-Mobile Corporation and a veteran of the United States Navy. She has 30 years of a combination of Cybersecurity and telecommunications experience and 12 years as an adjunct professor and has earned several industry security certifications. She sits on multiple cybersecurity boards and is an advocate for equal opportunity for women and minorities in technology careers. As President of Women in Security Mentors Inc., she advocates for underserved groups to pursue careers in cybersecurity through workshops and summits. She has spoken at events and conferences such as the Women in Telecom Conference following the events of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Centers, speaking lessons learned. Recently, she has spoken on the topics of ransomware, DDoS, Phishing, Security Awareness Education, Value of Representation of Women in Cybersecurity, and strategies for closing the race and gender gap in the cybersecurity organization ecosystem during the “great exploration”.
Dr. Cooper is the recipient of the 2022 ABWA Dr. Martin Luther King Education & Community Service award for keeping MLK’s dream alive. She is passionate about helping others, and has demonstrated this through her community works, as well as being the recipient of multiple awards for being a champion and a bridge builder.
