Amanda Miklik is working super hard to use their tech chops do the most good for the most people in the greatest need. As the Director of Design at the United States Digital Service (USDS), Amanda is building a community of badass UX professionals who are transforming some of the US government’s most critical digital services for the better. They are also an organizer and advocate for racial justice and disability rights, so they’re passionate about building teams which are representative of the people they serve. They frequently ask, “when was the last time you talked to the people using your product?”
Like many UX professionals, Amanda has had a very nonlinear career path and has held titles like Developer, Content Strategist, Instructional Designer, and many others. Prior to joining USDS, they spent 12 years in higher education and adult learning spaces using technology to help improve lives. Before that, they were a professional chef and baker and still use their craft to help facilitate “milk and cookies storytime” at community meetings.
Diverse representation is a priority for us. We're proud to say that our Summit speakers are 80% queer women, 50% women of color, 25% Black & Latinx, and 15% transgender and gender nonconforming.
