Mark has worked in consulting, engineering, project management, and public policy, and currently leads the Hire2Retire Systems program at GitHub, working with executives and People Operations teams to improve and optimize the employee experience (from the time of hire to, you guessed it, retirement). Before GitHub, Mark worked at Uber, Deloitte, a couple boutique consulting firms, and, in a past life, wrote education policy for the State of Georgia. He is on three board committees (Corporate Relations, Annual Gala, and Development) at the Transgender Law Center, volunteers with his alma mater, Georgia Tech, as an alumni mentor, and is currently working with several other former homeschoolers to develop a nation-wide resource network for LGBTQ homeschooled youth. He studied International Affairs and Spanish at Georgia Tech, is originally from North Carolina, and has been in the Bay Area (currently Oakland) for almost 5 years. In his free time, Mark enjoys teaching piano lessons, cycling, and traveling.
