Jessica has been a software engineer for almost 20 years, her career running the gamut from a tiny dot-com bubble start up to a government contracting position at the National Cancer Institute. She currently works as a Senior Software Engineer for Netflix on the Big Data Platform Architecture team, where she builds tools to help data scientists and engineers be the most effective and productive they can be. Her education includes a BS in Biology from Stanford (with a minor in Computer Science), and an MS in Bioinformatics from IUPUI. She got into programming when she was required to take a computer science course during her junior year of college and found out that despite her expectations, it was super fun.
Jessica lives in San Jose, California with her wife, five cats, and a dog.
