Cortland is the President of Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, Inc. a global society dedicated to educating and fostering leadership for LGBTQ and Ally communities in the STEM fields. The society was built by students, for students and started as a single chapter in 2005. Today, oSTEM encompass more than 65 chapters across the US and abroad.

Outside of oSTEM, Cortland is the Global Pride at Accenture Program Manager at Accenture, a leading multinational management consulting, technology, and outsourcing firm, where he provides subject matter expertise and facilitates programs with stakeholders all over the world to create a more inclusive working environment for LGBTQ people. Currently based in Atlanta, Cortland also leads the Atlanta Pride at Accenture Network, serves on the North America Gender Authenticity Engagement Team, and leads US Entry Level LGBTQ recruiting.

Prior to joining oSTEM and Accenture, Cortland founded the oSTEM Chapter at the University of Florida, the first of its kind in the state and the second in the Southeast, while pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering. During his time at Florida, he served on the Presidential LGBTQ Concerns Committee adding “gender identity” and “gender expression” to UF’s non-discrimination policy and was the Senior Ambassador for LGBTQ Affairs. For fun, Cortland enjoys exploring Atlanta, being outdoors, and trying new restaurants.
